Monroe Catholic Wrestling Beginning Winter 2026
We are looking to start a middle school wrestling program for Monroe Catholic schools! Wrestling is a super fun, interesting, wild, difficult sport that teaches incredible life lessons to boys and girls as they grow into men and women.
The middle school (MS) season will be a 6-7 week season during January / February 2026 for children 5th-8th grade. The planned practice location will be Black Swan Wrestling Club (BSWC) in downtown Monroe. Those interested in wrestling beyond the MS season could do so at BSWC. This MS season would especially cater to the new wrestler as they learn the fundamentals of the sport of wrestling. For the experienced wrestler, this will provide a more team atmosphere for competing and growing alongside teammates.
We are trying to gauge the interest of students from MCES, St Charles, Trinity, St Patrick's, and St Joseph's. Please fill out this GOOGLE FORM if you think you or your child would be interested in joining the team next season!
Spring Sports in Full Swing
Spring sports are in full swing at SMCC, and many of our wrestlers are developing their athleticism by competing in multiple sports. Brianna Lynch and AnnMarie Gessner are leading the girls soccer team, while Landon Barron, Paul Laboe, Thomas Wickenheiser, and Bennet Schafer are cradling up and down the lacrosse field. Phineas Totten and Christian Craanen are also playing lacrosse but are pulling double duty as they make big contributions to the track team as well. Gavin O’Kelley manages the baseball team, Henry Wickenheiser is busy wrestling freestyle, Kathryn Dietrich is playing tennis, and Tyler Bashaw is hitting dingers on the diamond. Competing in multiple sports helps athletes stay tough, well-rounded, and strong teammates. Several others are also working out with the football team to build strength for next season.
Black Swan Wrestling Club Going Strong
Black Swan Wrestling Club in downtown Monroe had an incredible youth season this past winter led by Coach Wickenheiser, Pierce, and Rodgers. The club continues to offer year round practices and coaching. Currently practices are three times a week and monthly membership costs $50.
